What is Peer Support?
Founded on the principles of respect, shared responsibility and mutual agreement, peer support is recovery and growth on your terms and by your timeline. It is support from someone with a lived experience similar to yours, in an effort to help you grow, heal and advocate for yourself. It is spending time with someone that sincerely wants to see you succeed and will help you find the resources to do so. The goal of peer support is to help the user develop their self-confidence and resiliency, all while finding their path to thrive in the community. It can take place through phone calls, text messages or meandering walks with conversation. It is meant to complement any other health care services and help the user feel whole – body and mind.
Are you working on your healing journey or looking to start it? Do you feel that peer support would be an asset to your day-to-day life? Make your appointment today!
