In the spring of 2022, a local gentleman by the name of Bruce Cummings posted on his social media that he was looking for help in securing the funds needed for a certificate program through Cornell University. Bruce identified himself as a recovering addict who had been sober for 6 months. He spoke of the benefits he would see if he were able to follow through on his plan. He listed being able to "keep himself busy," increased self-esteem and better opportunity to find employment as the advantages the course would offer him.
Unfortunately, Bruce didn't raise the funds needed to continue on that path. A short time later, in the first weeks of July of 2022, Bruce left this world unexpectedly. Sadly, we are sure that there are many more like Bruce out there - those that aren't here long enough to see their goals to fruition due to boundaries like finances.
Our goal with this program is to remove the financial boundaries that keep some from reaching their goals. We are aiming to help those that have been victims of domestic violence, those that have a mental health diagnosis or those that are living with substance use disorder on their healing/rehabilitation journey. Our goal is to help them regain self-confidence and feel like they are a part of their community.
If you are among those we have described and feel like getting a certificate from Cornell in any of these courses listed here (click on the image on the right to be taken to the Cornell site) would help you in your journey, please fill out the preliminary application below. While we are limited to the number of grants we can give out each quarter, we will be in touch with you as quickly as possible.
** Please note that Master Beekeeping, Plant-Based Nutrition and 360 courses are NOT included in this program.
